Missing Text: Newer releases of the Macintosh OS (8.5 and newer definitely, not 8.0, we're still checking on 8.1) offer the option to smooth fonts onscreen. This smoothing can cause C.D. Caterpillars 1 through 6 to wrap some words off the bottom of the page. Font smoothing only operates on fonts a certain size or larger, so to correct this you can either turn it off entirely, or set it to only work on fonts 18 points and larger.

To fix this, on the Apple menu, select the Control Panels submenu, and select Appearance. In the Appearance control panel, click on the Fonts tab. At the bottom of the Fonts panel it will have a separate section where you can either uncheck "Smooth all fonts on screen," or in the Size box, select 18 or 24.

C.D. Caterpillar Updates

C.D. Caterpillar 4: The latest update is C.D. Caterpillar 4.3.1

C.D. Caterpillar 3: The latest update is C.D. Caterpillar 3.4, which adds a demo button to the registration screen. Entering "Demo" in the user field will still work.

C.D. Caterpillar 2: The latest update is C.D. Caterpillar 2.7, which fixes an issue with the student hitting return in the Missing Letter game, which would make it unusable until the Missing Letter game was exited.

• C.D. Caterpillar 2.6 fixed an issue with some lines of text missing in the stories.
